More than 25 years ago Cygnus Instruments pioneered the Multiple Echo technique to ignore surface coatings and give accurate, error-checked measurements of remaining metal thickness. These benefits significantly reduce inspection time and costs. The new Cygnus 4 General Purpose embodies the latest Cygnus technology and has been engineered to be the smallest, lightest yet toughest instrument of its type.
The intelligent design of Cygnus gauges makes them simple to use. The new Cygnus 4 is no exception, with a 3-button keypad and user-friendly menu. The gauge features automatic probe recognition (APR) for perfect probe/instrument optimization, minimum thickness alert, echo strength indication, display freeze and ‘Deep Coat’ mode to allow measuring through even thicker coatings up to 20 mm thick. The large LCD graphic display has a fully automatic, white back light for all light conditions. The velocity of sound, probe type and battery status are always displayed. Supplied in an IP65 and IP67 rated aluminium enclosure the gauge can function perfectly in the most difficult operating environments.
The Cygnus 4 General Purpose is highly versatile and can be used in all typical metal thickness inspections: ship surveys; pipeline corrosion checks; offshore platform inspections; plant maintenance and safety checks on storage tanks, bridges, street lighting columns etc.
