Cygnus FMD System for Diver

Ultrasonic Flooded Member Detector

Purpose-built for Flooded Member Inspection (FMI), this Cygnus FMD system detects any ingress of water or 'flood' in subsea structural members using ultrasound. This ultrasonic testing (UT) solution boasts clever software and electronics combined with a truly easy-to-use interface to give a clear DRY or FLOODED result.

Once the subsea units are deployed, Cygnus FMD system runs a test using the FMD reporting software at the surface and shows a simple DRY (Green) or FLOODED (Red) result with A-scans for further verification. The results are logged for analysis or reporting as PDF and Excel.

EASY TO USE

The agile probe handling solution self-aligns with the surface and ensures correct contact with the member – regardless of what angle or direction of approach.

A simple DRY / FLOODED result is displayed and logged at the surface on the reporting software.

COST EFFECTIVE

Due to its clever and failsafe design, this system is very easy to learn and can be used by owners or operators with varying experience – without the need for external contractors.

RUGGED

The FMD equipment is designed to the highest standards, supported by a three year warranty.

RELIABLE

The purpose-designed algorithm simultaneously uses:

  • advanced signal processing
  • an advanced peak detection algorithm
  • low distortion / low noise data acquisition

to ensure highest level of Probability of Detection (PoD) to eliminate false readings.

The failsafe design also means a measurement is only taken when the contact sensor detects correct probe contact and alignment.

Any loss of contact is shown on the reporting software at surface.

System Test Function enables a test prior to deployment.

VERSATILE

The compact design of the probe solution means tests can be done on hard to reach areas such as K nodes where other inspection methods are unable to perform.

A range of versatile options are available to suit working depths and varying requirements.

This FMD system is also deployable by ROVs.
