Staff Profile: Matthew Winter – Cygnus Service Engineer
Matthew Winter started at Cygnus Instruments Ltd in 2008 as an electro mechanical assembly technician. Cygnus supported Matt through some early studies in electrical and electronic servicing – which he did the hard way at night school. He passed these with a distinction.
Matt came out of the workshop and assembly in 2011 and decided that what really interested him was not just building the thickness gauges but also diagnosing, repairing and servicing them.
Again, an opportunity was spotted to bring Matt on within the company and he embarked upon a rigorous 2 year Level 3 ONC (BTEC) in Electronic Engineering along with NVQ’s (Level 2 & 3) in relevant engineering processes and procedures.
We are extremely proud to announce that Matt finished his studies this month and passed … this time with a rare “double distinction”.
Matt is a keen sea kayaker, extremely handy around the house (he recently completely gutted his bathroom and fitted a new bathroom, restored his faulty central heating to full working order and re-routed the bathroom extraction!) and is a keen supporter of his local football club (Weymouth).
Matt is our principal point of contact for distributors and end users on all service and repair matters where he is now putting his cumulative 10 years of electronic and electrical experience to really excellent use.
